English for Children
Teaching children is a fascinating experience but at the same time it requires a lot of energy. The little ones learn and imitate what they see.
In class with a child, whatever their age, I feel like a teacher and an educator, I am like a model for them, and my way of acting guides them to learn.
Children have different stages of learning: when they are 3-4 years old, they can clearly express themselves in their mother tongue and seek verbal explanations always asking the reason of everything. At the age of 6, they can use verbal tenses correctly and from the age of 8-9 they truly understand them. When they are 10, the sounds, meaning and grammatical systems are well developed. The language is expanded, different styles and registers of the language are used both orally and in writing. They discover that the language can have a literal and a metaphorical meaning. At this age, children’ courses aim to prioritize and optimize the development of oral communication skills in English using appropriate structures and vocabulary in each situation. When they grow up, I also try to stimulate interest in cultural aspects of English-speaking countries, speaking about sports, cooking, geography, music, etc.
For children who wish to measure their progress in the language, I also prepare Young Learners (YLE), Cambridge exams suitable for children from7 to 12 years old who are studying English as a foreign language in primary schools. Exams cover all the four language skills - reading, writing, listening, and speaking. They provide each student with a reward for their efforts and a positive momentum in the study. Three levels are possible: Starters, Movers and Flyers.
